Our Story

In over 10 years Life Connection Mission has:

·        Given thousands of children an education and fed them every day.

·        Held hundreds of medical clinics & hosted dozens of surgical teams to offer assistance to all members of the community.

·        Constructed over 30 homes in the community to offer better shelter to those families living in thatched huts.

·        Flown multiple patients to the United States for more invasive and challenging surgeries.

·        Built a church in Arcahaie, a neighboring community approximately 10 miles away.

·        Delivered tons or rice to hungry families throughout the community.

·        Added a second level to the College Educatif d’ Excellence.

·        Recently constructed a clean, safe, and professional medical clinic.

·        Constructed public restrooms and showers for all members of the community to use.

·        Distributed tons of clothes, shoes, stuffed animals, hygiene products, & toys.

·        Restored hope for a better future.

·        Quickly aided those in fear & struggling as a result of disasters (floods, hurricanes, &      earthquake).

·        Dug wells to provide the community with clean water.

AND... Placed thousands of band-aids on cuts and scrapes with love.

 

Life Connection Mission started with a vision to serve the Haitian people.  In 1997, Tim and Barbara Aument traveled to Montrouis.  They committed their time, efforts, and resources for three years to the House of Bread Ministry.  This was a small ministry that educated 30-40 children under a canvas roof, walls of only four cinder blocks high, and a floor made of crushed stone.  After watching and being motivated by the growing success of this ministry, the Auments and members of Oasis Fellowship Church in Lititz, Pennsylvania, founded Life Connection Mission.  They desired to provide a better education to many hundreds more children in the community.

The first stage for Life Connection Mission was to establish a community church which would double during the week as a school building.  Shortly thereafter with successful fundraising, the first floor of our current school building was constructed and children in preschool-6th grade were able to attend class and receive a nutritious daily lunch.  Overtime, medical ministries, community support, and evangelization programs quickly ensued with the foundation of the school.

The heart and soul of Life Connection Mission, Jean Lucien, grew up in Montrouis, and as an adult living in the United States, he frequently traveled back to his home.  Jean happily and proudly watched as missionaries began to greatly impact his community.  When able to, Jean provided the volunteers with his knowledge and talents.  He was determined to support the missionaries as they offered hope, greater opportunities, and love to his family and friends. Jean received the great gift of moving to the United States and immediately started searching for work to support his family that remained in Montrouis.    

Jean began working for Dale and Peggy Moyers and quickly became good friends.  He invited his “bosses” to travel with him to his home country.  He wanted Dale and Peggy to see and believe the good they had done for him by providing him with work. 

Dale opened his heart to the beginning of the next chapter of his life and was completely amazed by the poverty and heartache he witnessed.  He was in awe of the hard work, deep faith, and love for each other displayed by the Haitian people.  Several more trips allowed Dale to become more involved with Life Connection Mission.  He connected with many of the children, established friendships with others in the community, sponsored children, purchased property to build a personal home, volunteered his time and energy to help the mission grow and the College Educatif d’ Excellence expand to offer more children a quality education.  He brought his brother, two sisters, and multiple friends with him, hoping each would come with their many talents to embrace and offer further assistance to the people he so quickly came to love in Montrouis.

Dale’s passion became most visible when Oasis Fellowship Church was no longer able to commit for the long-term success of Life Connection Mission due to increasing financial demands.  For fear of what would happen to the children, their families, and the hope that had been given to the community of Montrouis, Dale with Jean by his side every step of the way, took over as President of the mission.  Dale and Jean worked tirelessly to see that what was started almost ten years prior, would maintain its successful course and continue to grow to serve hundreds more children. 

Dale has since recruited hundreds of loving and generous sponsors and donors to aid in his long-term commitment to a better future for the children in Haiti.

The apostle Paul writes:

“I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances.  I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty.  I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want.  I can do everything through Him who giveth me strength.” 

 

For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.
